About this Role

The Operations Analyst for the SME Ventures Program within IFC will play a critically supportive role in navigating the complex landscape of investments focused on small and medium-sized enterprises within low-income and conflict-affected states. IFC stands at the forefront of private sector engagement in emerging markets, committing over $6.5 billion across private equity funds that pursue robust growth and operational excellence. The role is stationed in Nairobi, Kenya, aligning with IFC’s strategic initiatives to support sustainability and development amidst varied economic landscapes. The selected candidate will aid in the preparation, administration, and monitoring of advisory and investment projects. Responsibilities will involve working closely with the SME Ventures Lead and Value Creation Specialist to develop comprehensive investment strategies and ensure meticulous adherence to portfolio management protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct investment and advisory supervision and portfolio support.
  • Maintain client and portfolio databases for data-driven portfolio monitoring.
  • Prepare quarterly portfolio review and valuations.
  • Undertake research on funds and key markets.
  • Assist in managing internal reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Help supervise investments in portfolio funds.
  • Prepare investment and advisory related reports and internal memos.
  • Engage with advisory service providers for selection, onboarding, and monitoring.
  • Contribute to knowledge management and support thought leadership initiatives.
  • Support the SMEV team in organizing trainings and events.
  • Produce key reports, presentation materials, and other deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance or related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience with an investment bank, consulting firm, or international financial institution.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Proven organizational and time management skills.
  • High proficiency in using Power BI and artificial intelligence tools is a plus.
