Role

The scale and sophistication of the impact investing market has grown significantly over recent years and this role reflects that maturation. Closed Loop Partners is a leader in measuring and managing impact created by circular solutions. Our Impact team is growing, and we are looking to hire an individual who is passionate about environmental and social impact, possesses strong technical and quantitative skills, and has acute attention to detail.

This role reports to the Managing Director, Closed Loop Capital Management and works closely with our investors and the Senior Director, IMM. This person is responsible for collating, measuring and managing non-financial ESG and Impact data across Closed Loop Capital Management portfolio companies that coalesce into Annual Impact Reports and Bi-Annual/Quarterly Limited Partner reports.

This is an in-person role in our office in midtown Manhattan.

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead all quantitative analysis of impact data and develop methodologies to enhance our impact performance reporting capabilities and related infrastructure
  • Develop reporting templates and related impact models for portfolio companies that integrate best-practice impact management techniques (e.g., LCA references)
  • Support data aggregation and consistent and valid integration into impact models
  • Own, validate, analyze and refine the models that roll up individual company impact to fund-level data
  • Proactively develop process improvements and efficiencies without sacrificing data integrity and internal controls
  • Lead the preparation of documentation for ESG and impact verifications, process methodology, audits, and disclosures
  • Contribute to building an automated platform for impact data management that supports the entire investment division
  • Conduct research, literature review, and compilation of studies to inform the investment division’s integration of new impact frameworks
  • Support all ESG due diligence and own the development of dynamic impact models that utilize LCAs, which may inform or reinforce each investment team’s thesis
  • Develop and manage all Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon accounting for portfolio companies
  • Provide support to investment teams, communications, and marketing teams

Qualifications

  • Advanced Excel skills, with experience in financial or mathematical modeling
  • Demonstrated ability to work with complex and unstructured data sets, perform analysis and deduce, synthesize, and effectively communicate ideas
  • Passion and intellectual curiosity for impact management and measurement, circular economy, and sustainability
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high degree of autonomy, self-motivation, and discipline
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent critical and creative thinking skills; a proactive approach to solving problems
  • Organizational IQ, understanding of organizational dynamics, ability to work effectively with people at all levels
  • Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate training in a quantitative field – Computer Science, Data Science, Math, Statistics, Finance, Economics or related field
  • 3+ years’ related experience; preferred experience in consulting or banking
  • Nice to have – Understanding of current guidelines and upcoming developments in carbon accounting frameworks that may influence accounting decisions (e.g. SBTi, proposed SEC climate-related disclosures)
