About this Role

The Associate Director, Development Finance is a pivotal role within the Climate Policy Initiative’s Washington, DC office. The successful candidate will report to CPI’s U.S. Director and will assume a senior leadership role within the U.S. team, overseeing programmatic work, internal management, and external engagement. The Associate Director will help steer CPI’s efforts in shaping global climate and development finance policies, emphasizing the improvement of climate investment effectiveness through strategic oversight and collaboration with development finance institutions and CPI teams worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Build on CPI’s record in climate finance architecture programs to enhance climate finance delivery in emerging markets.
  • Provide strategic guidance and support to CPI staff on analytical services for development finance institutions.
  • Author or offer feedback on white papers as required by program needs.
  • Represent CPI at climate finance events and meetings locally and internationally.
  • Engage with current and potential funders for fundraising and business development.
  • Oversee internal management of Washington, DC program staff, guiding and inspiring the team to foster a supportive culture.
  • Manage at least 2 direct reports effectively.
  • Oversee staffing, resource management, and budget preparation for the D.C. office.

  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English.
