About this Role
In the role of Associate within the Financial Institutions Department at FMO, you will become an integral part of the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) team. This team is renowned for its robust regional network and market dominance, handling a committed portfolio of approximately EUR 2 billion through around 40 clients. With a focus on SDGs like Climate Action and Reducing Inequalities, the team provides debt facilities, catalyzes third-party funding, and drives sector innovations. Working from FMO’s headquarters in The Hague, you will report to the Regional Manager and collaborate extensively with the Financial Institutions LAC team. Your role will center around portfolio management and transaction execution, contributing to FMOs mission of reinforcing financial sectors in emerging markets.
Responsibilities
- Portfolio Monitoring: Manage the collection and analysis of country updates, change requests, disbursement memos, and market outlooks.
- Performance Monitoring: Work closely with (Senior) Investment Officers to assess client performance, evaluate KPIs, and suggest covenant modifications.
- Client Support: Assist Investment Officers with client inquiries and coordinate with external stakeholders.
- Market Research: Keep tabs on macroeconomic trends and regional dynamics.
- Administration: Ensure accurate data entry and uphold the integrity of financial systems.
- Deal Team Contributions: Participate in transaction lifecycles, including drafting financial proposals and legal documents.
- Due Diligence: Assist in executing financial due diligence for potential clients and ventures.
- Legal Collaboration: Work with the Legal team on reviewing and drafting transaction agreements.
- Team Collaboration: Engage with multidisciplinary teams to execute department goals and optimize internal processes.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or Engineering.
- 3–5 years of experience in financial or portfolio analysis.
- Experience with international work environments or emerging markets.
- Proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Strong analytical skills and proactive mindset.
- Knowledge of financial institutions, with a focus on LAC markets.
- Ability to travel within Latin America.
- Cultural sensitivity and effective multitasking abilities.

- Gross yearly salary between EUR 60K – EUR 70K, inclusive of holiday allowance and 13th month.
