Holberton School raises $8.2 million for ‘pay it forward’ tech training model

ImpactAlpha, April 11 – The San Francisco startup charges no upfront tuition for its software engineering courses; graduates contribute a percentage of their salaries for three years once they get a job.

“The need for qualified software engineers is greater than ever,” said Holberton’s Sylvain Kalache, “as is giving people an alternative way to pursue the American dream without the heavy burden of student loans.”

  • Holberton’s Series A round… was led by Daphni and Trinity Ventures, joined by Omidyar Network and previous investors. The round brought total financing to $13 million.
