The Tropical Forests Forever Fund is a global blended finance vehicle aiming to raise $125 billion to protect tropical forests through a performance-based payment model. Domiciled in Brazil, the fund invests its capital in a diversified fixed-income portfolio, generating up to $4 billion annually for conservation disbursements to forest-rich nations. These payments are contingent upon recipient countries maintaining deforestation rates below 0.5% of their total forested area, effectively valuing standing forests at approximately $1.60 per acre. The fund allocates at least 20% of all disbursements directly to Indigenous peoples and local communities, reinforcing its focus on sustainable land use and natural resource conservation. Currently in fundraising status with $1 billion committed, the fund primarily targets institutional investors seeking both environmental impact and stable returns.
