About the fund

The Pan African Housing Fund (PAHF) is a US$41.95 million residential real estate private equity impact fund managed by Phatisa, established to address the critical shortage of affordable, quality middle-income housing in sub-Saharan Africa. Launched in 2014, the fund targets residential developments in underserved urban and peri-urban areas, supporting emerging local property developers while improving access to safe, well-built housing for Africa’s growing middle class. PAHF invests in housing projects that integrate access to basic services such as water, electricity and sanitation, and applies international environmental, social and governance standards throughout the development lifecycle. The fund promotes green building practices, local sourcing of construction materials, job creation and skills development, with a strong emphasis on women’s economic empowerment and community stability. As of the reporting period, PAHF had supported the delivery of nearly 600 housing units and serviced plots across Kenya, Rwanda and Zambia, housing more than 2,000 people and supporting over 1,600 jobs.
