About the fund
The Data Center Innovation Initiative, launched by Elemental Impact in partnership with major hyperscalers including Microsoft, Google, Meta, and Amazon, invests in early-stage clean technology solutions designed to reduce the operational carbon footprint of data centers and related infrastructure. The initiative deploys capital in the form of grants and early-stage venture funding, targeting individual project investments between $500,000 and $5 million across up to ten technology startups through 2027, with philanthropic commitments potentially reaching $50 million. Its technology focus encompasses low-carbon cement, eco-friendly industrial cooling systems, and advanced electrical infrastructure, addressing decarbonization priorities in data centers and adjacent sectors such as healthcare, education, and manufacturing. The fund operates in North America and employs an integrated pilot model wherein corporate partners provide technical diligence, conduct on-site pilots, and facilitate knowledge-sharing to accelerate technology adoption and sector-wide impact. The initiative is currently in fundraising and is open to foundations, institutional investors, and high-net-worth individuals seeking exposure to climate-focused deep technology ventures with near-term commercialization pathways.
