Planet First Partners launched its first funding round targeting €250 million, announcing an initial raise of €170 million with a further €70 million in commitments from investors across the UK, France, Belgium, and Southeast Asia. The fund reached a final close at €450 million in February 2023, significantly surpassing its revised target of €350 million and receiving a final commitment from Ingka Investments, the investment arm of Ingka Group, the world's largest IKEA retailer. As an Article 9 fund, Planet First Partners applies rigorous methodology for sustainable investing, with processes verified by BlueMark to ensure compliance with SFDR requirements, and assesses each company's substantial contribution to social and environmental objectives while ensuring do-no-significant-harm compliance — with a post-investment sustainability management plan incorporating EU Taxonomy elements and ESG KPIs for each portfolio company. Capital is deployed in growth-stage companies with proven products and services whose technologies deliver the transition to a sustainable economy, with a focus on maximising social, environmental, and economic returns. Notable portfolio companies include Sunfire (green hydrogen), Submer (immersion cooling), Polymateria (biodegradable plastics), and FINN (sustainable car subscriptions).
