About the fund

The Nutritious Foods Financing Facility is a blended-finance vehicle established in 2023 that deploys capital to small and growing businesses advancing nutrition and food security for children and vulnerable populations across sub-Saharan Africa. Operating in partnership with the Global Alliance for Nutrition and Incofin, and backed by the Eleanor Crook Foundation and USAID, the fund has raised USD 11.5 million and deployed capital across ten portfolio companies in Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Senegal. The fund's investments span fortified food production and supply-chain solutions for school feeding programs, with portfolio companies including producers of nutrient-enhanced staples and logistics providers serving institutional nutrition channels. Children represent approximately 44 percent of the end-user base across its portfolio, providing direct impact measurement and demonstrating alignment between commercial viability and nutritional outcomes. The fund targets development finance institutions and foundations seeking to combine concessionary capital structures with measurable health and food security impact in emerging African markets.
