Founded in 1992, EDFI brings together 15 national development-finance institutions across Europe, pooling their resources and influence to support private-sector enterprises in emerging and developing economies. Its mission is to promote the joint interests of its members, inform policy, and drive innovation in industry standards — including sustainable finance, blended finance, ESG safeguards and mobilization of private capital for high-impact sectors such as SMEs, renewable energy, agriculture and climate.
