About the fund

The BlackRock Impact Opportunities Fund is a multi-asset, return-seeking impact investment vehicle launched in 2021 by BlackRock’s Alternatives platform, targeting up to $1 billion in capital. The fund invests in businesses and projects owned, led by, or serving communities of color in the United States, with a particular focus on Black, Latinx, and Native American populations. The fund employs a flexible “multi-alternatives” strategy, deploying capital across private equity, private credit, infrastructure, real estate, and other asset classes. This approach enables it to address structural capital gaps and unlock growth opportunities in undercapitalized communities while generating market-rate financial returns for investors. Investments are focused on key themes that drive economic mobility and community development, including affordable housing, financial inclusion, education, healthcare, digital connectivity, and inclusive economic transition. Backed by a diverse group of institutional investors—including corporations, pension funds, insurers, foundations, and family offices—the fund aims to redirect institutional capital toward historically underserved markets and create long-term wealth and economic opportunity in communities of color.
