ImpactAlpha, May 14 – Kilimo uses satellite, climate and on-the-ground data to help farmers plan crop irrigation and conserve water. Kilimo CEO Jairo Trad said the $850,000 investment would help the firm improve its app and expand in the U.S. and Argentina. The app aims to help farmers increase their yields while reducing costs. It works for monitoring chickpeas, corn, lentils, soybeans, wheat and vegetables.

  • Seed funding… Xpand Ventures, an agtech accelerator affiliated with Argentine media company Grupo Clarín, led the round with a $200,000 investment.
  • Other investors… include Alaya Capital Partners, Global Managers and agricultural industry angel investors. Kilimo received additional financing from Córdoba’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Agency.
