About this Role

As a Senior ESG Research Analyst – Manager at State Street, you will play a critical role in supporting our sustainable investing initiatives through rigorous data analysis. This position requires leveraging your expertise in ESG and climate data to enhance investment solutions and strategic decision-making processes. You will collaborate with various teams to build sustainable investment strategies, manage ESG data vendors, and contribute to thought leadership in the industry. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving our centralized sustainability data architecture, performing due diligence, and ensuring the quality of data outputs to support sustainable investment products. Your ability to communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders will be crucial, as will your commitment to continuously advancing our data capabilities in line with evolving industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support State Street Investment Management’s sustainable investing data strategy with rigorous analytical insights.
  • Perform data due diligence and manage onboarding of ESG/climate data vendors and platforms.
  • Maintain and improve centralized sustainability data architecture (Python/SQL-based pipelines, curated datasets, analytical tools).
  • Collaborate with investments and strategy teams to develop sustainable investment solutions.
  • Enable SI research capabilities for product innovation.
  • Contribute to white papers, research notes, and thought leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Environmental Science/Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in ESG, climate data, investment analytics, or financial data roles.
  • Strong working knowledge of Python and SQL for data extraction, cleaning, validation, and analysis.
  • Hands‑on experience working with structured datasets and automated data pipelines.
  • Experience supporting data quality checks, monitoring, and reconciliation.
  • Ability to support sustainable investment product development by analyzing ESG/climate data.
  • Experience producing analytical outputs, summaries, or research notes for internal stakeholders.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain data concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
