About this Role
As an Investment Officer for the Africa/Middle East region, you will play a crucial role in identifying, appraising, processing, and supervising debt investments in Microfinance Institutions (MFIs). The position is based in Nairobi, Kenya, with the expectation of frequent travel within Francophone Africa and the wider region. You will contribute to the full investment cycle, overseeing everything from origination to monitoring. You will be responsible for developing an extensive regional network, engaging with partners and institutions that are crucial to achieving your objectives. The role demands a deep understanding of economic and financial aspects within a cross-cultural context. You should be comfortable with analyzing financial statements, financial ratios, and performing institutional assessments.
Responsibilities
- Identify and appraise debt investments in MFIs.
- Process and supervise investments throughout their lifecycle.
- Develop and manage a regional network of partners.
- Perform due diligence, including governance and risk management assessments.
- Engage with partners in the Africa/Middle East region.
Requirements
- Economic or financial education background.
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience with asset management, rating agencies, development or commercial banks.
- Proficiency in analyzing financial statements and ratios.
- Familiarity with legal and organizational due diligence processes.
- Fluency in English and French.
