About this Role

The Impact Investment Manager at Shaw Trust is pivotal in crafting and managing the investment program designed for enhancing employment outcomes for individuals facing life challenges. This position involves developing a comprehensive strategy combining funding, capability building, and partnerships with local organizations to ameliorate employment and education trajectories. As a senior role within the Foundation, this manager will work closely with the Chief Impact Officer (CIO) to formulate the programme’s strategic direction, establishing funding avenues to address identified employment issues. In collaboration with various teams, this role will aid in setting up and overseeing grant and investment frameworks and governance processes. Offering a mix of insightful guidance, evaluation, and strategic support, the Impact Investment Manager will nurture relationships with charitable partners, steering resources towards impactful resolutions. Additionally, the role extends to philanthropic endeavors, formulating a donor engagement strategy, aiming to amplify the programme’s reach and success.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver the Impact Investment Programme, strategizing alongside the CIO and Trustee Board.
  • Develop partnerships and a donor engagement strategy to support programme sustainability.
  • Manage grants and investment processes, ensuring compliance with financial and governance standards.
  • Support partnership charities in improving impact management, programme design, and fundraising.
  • Lead investment management, engaging with potential charity partners and facilitating the proposal process.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Impact and Evaluation to create a robust evaluation framework.
  • Formulate communication strategies with the marketing team to elevate programme visibility.

Requirements

  • Successful track record in building strategic partnerships and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience in designing or managing a grants/investment programme.
  • Background in consulting, investment management, or capacity-building initiatives.
  • Fundraising experience, including proposal writing and donor engagement.
  • Performance management expertise and a keen understanding of service design or operational methodologies.
  • Passion for furthering the charitable aims of Shaw Trust with demonstrated integrity.
