About Aceli Africa

Aceli Africa is a transformative initiative committed to mobilizing $1.5 billion in private sector lending for agricultural SMEs across Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia by 2029. This ambitious target is achieved through a blend of innovative financial incentives designed to increase the risk appetite of both global and local financial institutions. Since its launch in 2020, Aceli Africa has significantly impacted the agri-SME lending space by supporting financial institutions in disbursing over 2,800 loans that connect over one million smallholder farmers to markets. The organization operates under the support of notable donors including Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Global Affairs Canada, IKEA Foundation, Norwegian Agency for Development, Swiss Development Corporation, UK FCDO, and USAID, which have committed over $93 million for the period 2020-2029. Aceli’s mission is to foster a more competitive lending market for agri-SMEs and serve as a scalable model across Africa.
