About this Role

The Senior Associate, Monitoring & Evaluation, will play a crucial role in advancing Aceli Africa’s efforts to enhance agricultural financing in East and Southern Africa. This position involves collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to implement monitoring and evaluation strategies across Aceli’s five active countries, aligning with the organization’s broader mission to facilitate finance for agricultural SMEs. A key aspect of the role is supporting the execution of Aceli’s Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Strategy, which includes collaborating with renowned institutions like the International Growth Centre (IGC) and Busara Centre of Behavioral Economics. The position also encompasses responsibilities related to research coordination, ESG compliance, and supporting Aceli’s capacity-building programs.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of Aceli’s Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Strategy and Framework.
  • Collaborate with IGC and Busara Centre to evaluate Aceli Financial Incentives and Technical Assistance program.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of enterprise and farmer-level surveys with 60 Decibels.
  • Support research coordination and review proposals for the Agri-SME Evidence Fund.
  • Consolidate evidence from evaluations and distill key learnings.
  • Track Key Performance Indicators and develop impact profiles.
  • Draft learning outputs and case studies.
  • Support ESG assessment and engage lenders for compliance with ESG policy.
  • Coordinate outreach and training on Aceli’s ESG and Impact criteria.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree/equivalent in a relevant field such as Agricultural Economics or Business Administration.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in monitoring and evaluation in a development finance context.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Passion for social impact and improving farmer livelihoods and food security.
  • Familiarity with agri-finance and impact measurement is advantageous.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
