About this Role
The World Resources Institute is seeking a Senior Investment Manager for Outcome and Blended Finance to advance their ambitious restoration initiative. This role is fundamental to the design and implementation of innovative finance mechanisms aimed at mobilizing private capital for land restoration. By leveraging outcome-based finance partnerships and blended investment vehicles, the candidate will play a pivotal role in furthering the goals of WRI’s restoration programs. The chosen candidate will collaborate closely with executives, partners, and investors to develop business cases and financing structures that attract public and private funding. They will also be responsible for liaising with various stakeholders, including country and landscape programs, to identify and cultivate investment opportunities. The role demands regular engagement with international and regional partners, promoting financial solutions that drive ecological and climate benefits.
Responsibilities
- Co-develop and manage partnerships with blended investment funds.
- Build business cases and opportunities for outcome payments in Africa.
- Lead financial and economic analyses to evaluate project viability.
- Scope and build partnerships with outcome finance investors and stakeholders.
- Drive processes to secure outcome purchases and raise investment funds.
- Co-lead the development of financing structures, including carbon finance.
- Provide recommendations on capacity development for TerraFund projects.
- Support strategy development, partnership growth, and fundraising efforts.
- Liaise with WRI staff and stakeholders to solve implementation issues.
- Demonstrate thought leadership by sharing insights internally and externally.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of full-time relevant experience in finance and economics.
- Experience in investment project preparation and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with outcome-based financing mechanisms or nature-related credits.
- Proficient in spoken and written English; Portuguese or French desirable.
- Existing work authorization required in the location of employment.
