Clean energy. Seattle-based LevelTen Energy, an online marketplace for clean energy projects, raised a $65 million.
Climate adaptation. BlueOrchard’s second InsuResilience Investment Fund, which is targeting $100 million to increase access to affordable climate insurance in emerging markets, clinched €5 million… Mitti Labs raised $3 million to help rice farmers in India improve farming practices and cut methane emissions.
Education and skills. Black-led fund manager Zeal Capital Partners backed JISEKI, a California–based labor marketplace that connects employers and immigrants for good jobs with benefits… Social Finance launched a $2.5 million education fund for low-income students in Hawaii… Auxilo Finserve, a Mumbai-based higher education lender, raised $30 million from LeapFrog Investments to expand its student lending portfolio.
Financial inclusion. Accion invested $10 million in Los Andes to digitalize micro-lending in Peru… British International Investment committed $10 million to NMB Bank Zimbabwe to lend to the country’s agricultural producers and exporters… Mexico’s OCN landed $86 million in debt and equity to expand gig-worker car rentals.
Fund news. Active Impact and Lightrock notched impact exits… Trill Impact is targeting life sciences and green technologies with a €90 million venture fund.
Inclusive communities. Lhoopa scored $80 million in equity and debt to build affordable housing in the Philippines… Platform for Social Impact secured $43 million for a community center in Puerto Rico.
Investing in Africa. Dutch development bank FMO made a $7 million investment in the LoftyInc Alpha Fund, which invests in startups building tech solutions for Africa’s “everyday economy”… Cygnum Capital provided $5 million in debt to NuRAN Africa to expand Internet connectivity services in Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of the Congo… Off-grid solar provider d.light raked in $176 million in securitized financing from African Frontier Capital backed by customer receivables in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
Investing in health. Seven Starling, a provider of online mental health services for women, landed $10.9 million in a Series A round backed by Rhia Ventures’s RH Capital, Emerson Collective and Magnify Ventures.
Low-carbon transition. Cloverleaf raked in $300 million from Sandbrook and NGP for clean-powered digital infrastructure… Abu Dhabi-based Tau Capital led the Series B financing round of BlueGreen Water Technologies, a water-based carbon removal company… German startup VARM secured €5.7 million to train new insulation installers and connect them with homeowners across Europe to reduce their carbon footprints.
New materials. French startup Syntetica raised €4.2 million to begin producing recycled nylon materials for fashion and automotive clients.
Small businesses. Brussels-based Kois Invest raised €150 million to make growth equity investments in Europe’s small businesses… Calvert Impact secured a $140 million line of credit from Goldman Sachs’ Urban Investment Group to catalyze private investment in the smallest businesses in the US.
