Clean energy. LeapFrog Investments invested in ReNew Energy Global’s commercial and industrial solar business in India… Brookfield and Canadian pension fund La Caisse agreed to acquire Québec-based renewable energy company Boralex.
Education and skills. Enko Education secured a $22 million credit line from Standard Bank to expand K-12 access across Africa.
Emerging market fund raises. The IDB Lab invested $2.5 million in Innogen Capital’s debut fund for early-stage ventures in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras… Mundi Ventures raised $100 million in a first close of its debut Latin America fund for insurance tech and health protection companies, backed by IDB Invest and COFIDES… Adenia Partners closed its Africa entrepreneurship fund at $180 million, anchored by the International Finance Corp., to back small businesses in light industry, consumer goods and renewable energy across the continent.
Investing in health. Somerset Indus Capital Partners closed its third fund at $288 million for affordable healthcare in India… Boston-based Flourish Care raised $5.7 million in seed funding to provide maternal care via its network of doulas.
Low-carbon transition. Vienna-based Sequestra raised €3 million ($3.5 million) to decarbonize hard-to-abate industries like metal production by locking carbon dioxide in industrial waste.
Sustainable fashion. Sweden-based Renasens raised €10 million to make it easier for manufacturers to reuse textile materials… Biotech company Epoch Biodesign in the UK secured $12 million for enzyme-based nylon recycling… India-based Canvaloop secured $1.5 million for fibers made from agricultural waste… Sunna Ventures invested in Brazilian startup BackChannel, which connects surplus apparel inventory to small merchants.
