ImpactAlpha, Sept. 21 – Steward pools investments from individuals to provide capital to sustainably run farms, fisheries, and food producers. Since it was founded in 2017, the online platform has provided more than $7 million in loans.
The Grantham Environmental Trust’s Neglected Climate Opportunities and Australian investment firm Tripple led the $8.8 million Series A round.
Additional funding came from Evi Steyer, a cofounder of Ponderosa Ventures, whose billionaire father Tom Steyer last week launched Galvanize Climate Solutions, and Steyer’s wife, the banker and angel investor Kat Taylor, as well as other investors.
