About this Role

LISC Milwaukee is seeking a team-oriented individual to help deploy targeted strategies and tools for the Milwaukee LISC office. This vital position plays a central role in the success of LISC Milwaukee’s strategic priority — Effectuating Equity. The Program Officer will be responsible for organizing, convening, and facilitating meetings, trainings, workshops, and other sessions to drive program priorities. This role requires some weekly evening hours and occasional weekend work. Responsibilities also include facilitating project-specific technical assistance, preparing and overseeing grants and contracts for programs, and managing financial drawdowns. Besides, the Program Officer will track and evaluate progress on programmatic milestones, conduct research, gather data, and prepare written and visually appealing reports. They will support the Executive Team in launching new programmatic initiatives and build strong, trusting relationships with varied stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, convene, and facilitate meetings, trainings, workshops, information sessions, and orientations.
  • Facilitate project-specific technical assistance.
  • Prepare and oversee grants and contracts for programs.
  • Provide oversight on disbursements and financial drawdowns.
  • Track and evaluate progress on programmatic milestones.
  • Conduct research, gather and analyze data for program reporting.
  • Prepare written and visual reports, such as private funder narrative/financial reports, compliance reports, etc.
  • Support the Executive Team in developing new programmatic initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with partners, including funders, community organizations, businesses, and government officials.
  • Coordinate with LISC national program teams to advance initiatives.
  • Assume responsibility for special projects and other assignments as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university OR relevant work experience in a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in real estate, finance, community development, small business development, or related disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of the economic, political, and social environments in Milwaukee, especially of historically disinvested neighborhoods.
  • Knowledge of community development policies and programs.
  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects and collaborating with clients and co-workers.
  • Experience building relationships, networking, and collaborating with community-based organizations and stakeholders.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other software applications.
  • Excellent research, writing, editing, and analytical skills.
  • Fluency in using, understanding, and presenting data.
  • Commitment to accuracy, attention to detail, and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and set priorities.
