About this Role
The Carlyle Group is seeking an ESG professional to enhance ESG integration across its investment portfolio. In this role, you will work with US and EMEA ESG leaders to execute due diligence and value creation strategies. Your involvement will span assessing ESG risks in potential investments, synthesizing narratives for improvements, and supporting portfolio company initiatives. The successful candidate will understand key ESG frameworks and demonstrate a strong acumen in sustainability, all while managing multifaceted projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Conduct ESG due diligence and reviews for new investments across selected segments.
- Analyze ESG exposure and capacity to mitigate risks and unlock opportunities.
- Draft and edit ESG investment committee memos.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Execute ESG value creation strategy and prioritization for key investments.
- Support development and coordination of ESG workshops and roundtables.
- Manage ESG KPI data, including consolidation and analysis.
- Implement climate best practices across portfolio companies.
- Assist in ongoing impact reporting for the Renewable and Sustainable Energy platform.
- Create materials for internal and external presentations.
- Respond to RFPs/DDQs and ad hoc requests.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; preference for finance, accounting, economics, or ESG-related field.
- Minimum 5 years professional experience; 3 years in ESG-related role preferred.
- Working knowledge of ESG frameworks such as SASB, TCFD, GRI, SDGs, and SFDR.
- Strong decision-making and innovation skills in complex environments.
- Excellent attention to detail and deadline handling.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
