About this Role
Community Investment Management (CIM) is looking for an Investment Analyst to join our U.S. Investment Team in San Francisco. The Investment Analyst will contribute to all aspects of CIM’s work, establishing CIM as the leading credit provider for fintech lending products and platforms in our target markets. This role will involve occasional travel to existing and prospective fintech partners. The Investment Analyst will have the opportunity to conduct deal-specific diligence, including financial and credit analysis on new and existing investments. They will build detailed models to evaluate investment performance across a range of scenarios, support the monitoring of existing investments with periodic analytical reviews, and engage directly with portfolio companies. In addition, the analyst will synthesize findings, develop analytical perspectives with limited information, create detailed investment memos, and make recommendations to the team. They will also assist in building new investment theses by analyzing and assessing new markets and fintech verticals and closely monitor the competitive and regulatory landscapes across fintech sectors. Collaboration with the teams in New York, Latin America, Asia, and Europe will be crucial to facilitate investor reporting, audits, risk reporting, and technology coordination. This role requires a candidate who is passionate about social impact, possesses strong analytical skills, and is comfortable working in a highly collaborative, global team.
Responsibilities
- Conduct deal-specific diligence, including financial and credit analysis on new and existing investments.
- Build detailed models to evaluate investment performance across a range of scenarios.
- Support the monitoring of existing investments with periodic analytical reviews and direct portfolio company engagement.
- Synthesize findings, develop analytical perspectives with limited information, create detailed investment memos, and make recommendations to the team.
- Support the team in investment structuring, negotiation, documentation, and execution.
- Assist in building new investment theses by analyzing and assessing new markets and fintech verticals.
- Closely monitor the competitive and regulatory landscapes across fintech sectors.
- Work closely with the teams in New York, Latin America, Asia, and Europe to facilitate investor reporting, audits, risk reporting, and technology coordination.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of previous work experience, with a background in fintech, debt financing, or structured products.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and expertise in building and assessing financial models.
- Comfortable communicating one’s opinion clearly and effectively in writing and in team discussions.
- Excited to work in a small, fluid, ambitious, and highly collaborative global team with a high degree of autonomy, self-motivation, and discipline.
- Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative mindset, intrinsically curious, self-starter, and an exceptional work ethic.
- Knowledge of other languages a plus.
- Proficiency in SQL or experience managing relational databases or data warehouses in AWS Cloud viewed favorably.
