About this Role

The Impact Strategy Spring Internship 2025 at Soros Fund Management offers second-year graduate or MBA students an opportunity to gain practical expertise in investment stewardship and sustainability research. This spring internship entails 10-12 hours per week throughout the spring semester from January to May 2025. Interns will split their time between remote work and at least a half-day in the New York office each week. Interns will join the Impact Strategy team and focus on company sustainability research and engagement. They will evaluate corporate progress on issues such as climate and social equity and prepare for engagements with portfolio companies. Additionally, interns will assess proxy voting materials to inform SFM’s voting decisions. The internship includes participation in meetings with senior leaders and sustainability experts, subject to schedule availability, and may involve sector-specific research projects.

Responsibilities

  • Join the Impact Strategy team for sustainability research and engagement.
  • Review and analyze corporate progress on climate and social equity issues.
  • Prepare communications and meeting materials for portfolio companies.
  • Provide assessments of proxy voting materials for annual general meetings.
  • Engage in meetings with senior leadership and sustainability experts as scheduling permits.
  • Work on sector-specific research projects.

Requirements

  • Second-year graduate students pursuing degrees with a focus on sustainability.
  • Professional experience or significant coursework in climate change and social equity.
  • Coursework in finance or economics is a plus.
  • Strong writing skills for crafting messages for senior leaders.
  • Subject matter expertise in sustainability issues like climate change, energy transition, data privacy, and human rights.
  • Ability to organize and analyze large data sets and report results to various audiences.
  • Critical thinking skills to connect sustainability goals with SFM’s policy objectives.
  • Passion for impact investing and attention to detail.
  • Effective collaboration in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
