About this Role

Social Finance is seeking an innovative and strategic leader to serve as Vice President of Communications. Reporting to the CEO and Managing Director of the Social Finance Institute, this role is pivotal in enhancing the visibility of Social Finance’s work. The Vice President of Communications will craft and execute a comprehensive strategy that communicates Social Finance’s mission, impact, and initiatives to diverse audiences. The role demands a visionary who can advance the organization’s communications efforts through media relations, content development, digital marketing, and performance measurement. The Vice President will lead a dynamic team, ensuring cohesive collaboration across departments to amplify Social Finance’s messaging and reach.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications vision and strategy that advances Social Finance’s mission, values, and objectives.
  • Create a compelling organizational “voice” to engage key audiences and advance impact.
  • Provide intellectual leadership to roadmap the future of communications efforts.
  • Lead and mentor the communications team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including budget management, resource allocation, and performance evaluation.
  • Cultivate relationships with journalists and media outlets to secure media placements and interviews.
  • Develop strategic media relations strategies to generate positive coverage and raise awareness of Social Finance’s initiatives.
  • Drive the creation of compelling content, including press releases, articles, op-eds, reports, blogs, social media posts, and multimedia materials.
  • Oversee digital marketing efforts, including website management, email campaigns, and social media engagement.
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to track the effectiveness of communications efforts and optimize strategies.

Requirements

  • 15-20 years of experience in communications, including successful leadership and implementation of organizational communications strategy.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive and creative mindset, energized by innovation.
  • Deep experience with public relations, including national media relations and securing press coverage.
  • Proficient in digital marketing tools and media, including social media platforms, CRM platforms, content management systems, and analytics tools.
  • Experience communicating research and findings to inform policy debate.
  • Proven editorial skills in crafting narratives and messages for diverse audiences.
  • Experience managing and mentoring teams, with a commitment to enhancing a culture of inclusion, belonging, and equity.
  • Some understanding of or connection to impact investing, social finance, or related fields is highly desirable.
