About this Role
CleanCapital is seeking a motivated individual to join its capital markets team as a Director or Senior Director, a designation dependent on the candidate’s experience. The capital markets team plays a critical role in structuring and executing CleanCapital’s financing strategy, which includes sourcing tax equity, construction debt, and term debt for the company’s portfolio of solar and storage assets, as well as sourcing and structuring corporate capital. This position will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will involve significant interaction with potential financing partners and other stakeholders. The candidate will be responsible for leading marketing and origination efforts, developing financial models, structuring and negotiating financing transactions, and training junior team members.
Responsibilities
- Direct marketing and origination efforts with potential financing partners.
- Independently develop confidential information memoranda and financial models with minimal oversight.
- Lead structuring, negotiation, and due diligence for financing transactions, including the management of third-party consultants and attorneys.
- Provide tax equity and debt assumptions for project valuations.
- Lead internal evaluation of financing options to maximize returns and other strategic goals of the firm.
- Manage CleanCapital’s tax equity and debt financial models.
- Train and oversee junior team members on proper modeling of tax equity and debt transactions.
Requirements
- BA/BS or equivalent in finance, business administration, economics, or a related field.
- MBA preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in investment banking, power generation, or the electric utility industry in investment or business development roles.
- Experience in creating and modifying sophisticated Excel-based models, including financial statement models and valuations/LBO/DCF models.
- Ability to audit existing financial models to ensure 100% accuracy of the assumptions and information.
- Experience supervising the drafting of legal documentation from external counsel.
- Financial analysis experience, including creating and maintaining Excel models during the investment process.
- Experience researching and assessing investment considerations across a wide variety of asset classes and geographies.
- Significant experience in renewable energy project finance debt and tax equity, with a demonstrable track record in closing project finance transactions. Experience in C&I, community solar, and/or DG solar and storage is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to take ideas from concept to conclusion.
- Technical understanding of clean energy business processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with superiors, peers, partners, and other stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal skills while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
