Boann Social Impact, launched in 2023, is a key player in the development of Canada’s social finance and impact investment sector. As one of three wholesalers appointed by the Government of Canada to distribute a portion of the $755 million Social Finance Fund, Boann is backed by a $154 million contribution. The organization focuses on increasing institutional and private investment in the social finance sector, with a strong emphasis on social equity outcomes. Boann aims to build capacity among social finance intermediaries and other organizations to measure and demonstrate impact effectively. Partnering with the Table of Impact Investment Practitioners (TIIP) and Community Impact Investing LP, Boann strives to create a financially, socially, and environmentally sustainable marketplace.
About this Role
Boann Social Impact is seeking a dynamic Communications and Reporting Manager to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring clear, compelling storytelling of our work and that of our partners and investees. The Communications and Reporting Manager will be responsible for conveying both financial and impact performance to various stakeholders, including government funders, private and institutional investors, funds, and the general public. The ideal candidate will possess strong strategic communication skills and a deep understanding of both financial reporting standards and impact metrics within the charitable and impact investing sectors. Their primary goal will be to attract new capital to the social finance marketplace by applying their communications acumen and creativity.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy using storytelling to convey our mission, values, and impact.
- Prepare accurate and compelling reports in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Lead the development and dissemination of impactful impact reports.
- Cultivate relationships with government funders, private investors, institutional partners, and funds.
- Generate engaging stories and content for newsletters, website updates, social media, and other communication channels.
- Serve as a spokesperson for Boann, handling media inquiries and promoting positive coverage.
Requirements
- Proven ability to craft and deliver clear, persuasive stories and messages tailored to diverse audiences.
- Understanding of financial analysis and reporting within the context of impact investing and charitable sectors.
- Familiarity with impact measurement systems and experience in translating impact data into compelling success stories.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
- Ability to innovate in communication strategies and content creation.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple storytelling projects simultaneously.
- Basic design and ability to produce graphics for digital dissemination.
- 3-5 years of experience in strategic communications, public relations, or reporting.
- Excellent verbal, writing, and editing skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and content management systems.
- Passion for social and environmental impact and a commitment to ethical investment practices.
- Ability to communicate in both official languages is an asset.
