About this Role
The Assistant Vice President (AVP), ESG Disclosure and Ratings is part of Citi’s Sustainability & ESG team. This team is responsible for developing and executing Citi’s sustainability strategy, including the Net Zero Plan and the $1 Trillion Sustainable Finance Goal. The ESG Disclosure and Ratings AVP will provide subject matter expertise and support to Citi’s ESG disclosure program. This role reports to the Senior Vice President, Sustainability & ESG, who in turn reports to the Chief Sustainability Officer. The ideal candidate will leverage their sustainability knowledge, project management experience, data analysis capabilities, and excellent communication skills to help position Citi as a leader in ESG disclosure.
Responsibilities
- Support the ESG Disclosure and Ratings team on regulatory ESG reporting requirements and strategy at the global and country levels.
- Assist with major voluntary ESG disclosures, including the annual Citi Climate Report, annual ESG Report, and ESG sections of Proxy Statement and Annual Report/10-K, under the guidance of the ESG Ratings and Disclosure Lead.
- Engage with business units, ESG Communications, and Investor Relations teams to collect and incorporate feedback from external stakeholders.
- Participate in interactions with ESG rating agencies to optimize Citi’s scoring.
- Support business units in responding to ESG-related requests from external parties (e.g., ESG-related client RFPs and due diligence questionnaires).
- Conduct ESG disclosure benchmarking across the financial services industry.
- Monitor emerging ESG trends and regulations globally through participation in external forums such as working groups and trade associations.
- Work with internal stakeholders on various initiatives to advance Citi’s disclosures.
- Track documentation of controls related to ESG reporting.
- Collaborate with others on the Sustainability & ESG team on Citi’s sustainability strategy, stakeholder engagement, employee engagement, and related initiatives.
- Work closely with internal partners across Citi on sustainability and ESG-related activities.
Requirements
- 5-8 years of relevant experience in sustainability, ESG, finance, investing, or a markets-related role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
- Experience in conducting Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions calculations is preferred.
- Familiarity with corporate reporting, including key voluntary ESG frameworks like SASB and TCFD.
- Knowledge of regulatory ESG reporting frameworks, including the CSRD and ISSB.
- Proven project management skills, with the ability to create work plans and meet deadlines.
- Self-starter capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent analytical skills, proficiency in Excel, and comfort in analyzing large datasets.
- Expertise in PowerPoint and Word.
- Strong research and investigative skills, with the ability to evaluate and assess complex topics and creatively problem-solve.
- Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience. A Master’s degree related to sustainability, environmental science, business, or finance is preferred.
