ImpactAlpha, June 6 – Eighteen percent of the U.S. population has a hard time with physical mobility—a figure expected to rise as the Baby Boomer generation ages. Motivo, a Wisconsin-based startup, has designed an ergonomic walker called the Motivo Tour Walker. The company says the device reduces back and neck pressure by up to 60% compared with traditional walkers and “minimizes unnecessary strain caused by reaching [so that people can] live a healthier more independent life.” The walker’s starting price is $500.

  • Money for manufacturing… Motivo raised $950,000 in a Series A round from medical device entrepreneur Justin Mortara and will use the money for manufacturing and marketing.
