Investors are recognizing that without early-stage ventures there’s no pipeline of larger, later-stage deals.
The International Finance Corp., part of the World Bank Group, is the anchor investor in 500 Startups second Latin American fund, Luchadores II, which is looking to raise $10 million.
The IFC also invested $2 million in SeedPlus, a seed-stage venture fund launched by Jungle Ventures in Singapore (see “IFC stocks the pipeline of early-stage startups”).
The IFC strategy also includes investments in fund accelerators. Last year, the IFC committed $1 million last year to Capria Network to develop early-stage fund managers (see “Impact Seed Funds in Africa and Latin America Share Secrets and Struggles”).
