ImpactAlpha, November 2 – In a country where mobile money is ubiquitous, Kenya’s Data Integrated is helping bus operators and communal taxis, or matatus, switch to digital ticketing and payment systems. Its system helps transit operators manage passenger volume and adhere to COVID-related regulatory requirements for cashless payments.
Woman-led Data Integrated raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Toyota Tshusho’s Africa-focused Mobility 54 venture fund, which also backed Tugende, a motorcycle taxi finance company in Uganda (see, “Tugende helps Uganda’s motorcycle taxi drivers survive the lockdown – and raises $6 million to grow again”).
