About this Role
The Impact Finance – Affordable Housing Business Development Associate will join US Bancorp Impact Finance and engage with a growing team of tax credit professionals. The associate will be involved in the marketing, acquisition, and underwriting of loans and equity investments under the IRS Section 42 Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program (LIHTC). These investments are pivotal in fostering affordable housing nationwide. The role requires adept use of PC software, engaging with a wide variety of duties for the affordable housing tax credit production group. The position demands frequent communication and negotiation with external customers and internal partners, analyzing and summarizing LIHTC debt, and creating high-quality memos to support loan and investment proposals.
Responsibilities
- Communicate, meet, and negotiate with external customers and internal partners for LIHTC transactions.
- Analyze and summarize components of LIHTC debt and investment packages.
- Compile and analyze information for projects and make recommendations.
- Produce reports related to acquiring and underwriting LIHTC loans and investments.
- Prepare preliminary memos identifying the strengths, weaknesses, risks, and mitigants for proposed loans and investments.
- Assist in the transition associated with acquiring LIHTC loans and investments within USBIF.
- Prioritize and complete multiple projects efficiently.
- Process and manage various confidential documents and information.
- Assist with research from internal and external databases and maintain an investment pipeline.
- Participate in special projects as required.
Requirements
- Typically a Bachelor’s degree with five or more years of related experience, OR
- MBA/JD with one or more years of directly related experience
- Self-starter with an interest in community development and finance.
- Possessing well-developed reading, writing, verbal presentation, and math skills.
- Excellent time management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to interpret data and identify issues with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel and Word.
