About this Role
The intern for Sustainable Agricultural Systems and Policies (AgSys) at GIZ KE will play a supportive role in executing the AgSys project in collaboration with a dedicated technical team. This involves engaging with transformative agricultural policy initiatives and working across diverse project fields from local impacts to national policy guidelines. The intern is expected to actively participate in planning, organizing, and implementing activities pertinent to the project’s objectives. By fostering collaborative efforts, the role seeks to create a dynamic environment where sustainable agriculture and progressive policy reforms go hand-in-hand.
Responsibilities
- Support the project manager and technical team in executing technical and administrative tasks such as developing concept notes, programs, and presentations.
- Capture and brief on meeting notes and develop checklists for event planning.
- Participate in the conceptualization, planning, and execution of activities across various project outputs.
- Network in forums, meetings, and workshops related to AgSys scope of interventions and compile summary notes/minutes.
- Conduct desk research for required technical knowledge and information to support quick reviews and digests.
- Contribute to knowledge management and communication especially in content creation.
- Upskill on various technical topics along the outputs including monitoring and evaluation support.
- Support in event organization and execution including logistical follow-ups with administration.
- Assist in other technical and administrative duties upon request.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in agricultural economics, agriculture-related, and sustainability-related courses.
- Relevant experiences in agricultural, NRM or related sectors.
- Interactions and awareness of key issues in sustainable development.
- Must be a recent graduate within one year of completion.
- Excellent research skills and ability to summarize knowledge/information.
- Willingness to learn and ability to work in a dynamic team.
- Self-driven, motivated and ability to balance tasks and team support.
- Ability to execute tasks under required schedules and deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Very good working knowledge of ICT technologies, including related software, email, internet, and Microsoft Office.
- Awareness and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
