About this Role
As an Investment Manager within the Guarantee Team at Impact Fund Denmark, you will be at the forefront of executing and managing development guarantee transactions. These transactions play a critical role in mobilizing private capital by addressing financial barriers in emerging markets. The role demands a blend of finance, risk assessment, and development impact activities, requiring close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. You’ll engage in a holistic transaction life cycle from screening and structuring to active monitoring and portfolio management, thereby ensuring each guarantee is aligned with Impact Fund Denmark’s strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Manage guarantee transactions end-to-end, including screening, due diligence, structuring, approval, implementation, and monitoring.
- Assess partner financial institutions’ credit processes, portfolio composition, and risk management capacity.
- Analyze portfolio-level risk drivers, default dynamics, recoveries, and incentives created by guarantee structures.
- Structure guarantees including eligibility criteria, coverage ratios, caps, triggers, and reporting requirements.
- Prepare investment and risk materials for internal decision-making bodies.
- Contribute to guarantee pricing by linking risk assessment to expected loss considerations.
- Monitor guaranteed portfolios over time and engage with partners on performance, risk mitigation, and corrective actions.
- Support claims assessments and feed portfolio experience back into new deal design.
- Work closely with colleagues across investment teams, ESG, legal, finance, and technical assistance.
Requirements
- A relevant university degree (e.g., economics, finance, mathematics, engineering, or equivalent).
- Solid experience with credit analysis, portfolio risk assessment, or structured lending products.
- Experience working with financial modeling and strong command of Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to translate risk analysis into clear, decision-oriented recommendations.
- 2–3 years of relevant experience, depending on level, from banking or financial institutions, development finance institutions, structured finance, rating agencies, investment funds, or financial advisory.
- Strong analytical skills and a structured approach to complex problems.
- Strong stakeholder-management and project-management skills.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); Danish is an advantage but not required.
- Experience with guarantees, insurance-like products, or other risk-sharing instruments is a strong advantage.
