SJF Ventures has led a $12 million financing round for Voxy’s English-learning platform.

Voxy delivers English learning services for educational institutions, corporations and governments in North and South America, Europe and Asia on a mobile platform that includes online learning, live conversations and targeted self-study.

The company is based in New York and São Paolo and CEO Paul Gollash said the new funding will help Voxy “work with more learners in historically underserved regions in support of their economic advancement, replicating our success in Brazil.”

The financing was led by SJF, based in Durham, N.C., and included New York’s Inherent Group and existing investors Rethink Education, Contour Venture Partners, Weld North, and GSV Acceleration.

Grundfos, a water pump manufacturer, uses Voxy to provide English training to its 18,000 workers in 80 countries.
