Emerging markets private equity firm Actis has closed its $2 billion fourth energy fund for investments in electricity generation and distribution in Latin America, Africa and Asia.

“The demand for new investment within the electricity sector is $1.5 billion every day, with renewable energy generating $500 million of investments per day in non-OECD countries,” said Actis’ Mikael Karlsson.

Actis, based in London, has raised $12 billion since 2004 to invest in emerging markets infrastructure, in line with the U.N. Principles of Responsible Investing.
