The U.K. Social Bond Fund reports 6.6 percent annual returns.

The bond fund, launched in December 2013 by Columbia Threadneedle Investments and Big Issue Invest, invests in bonds from UK charities and social enterprises.

The fund’s manager Simon Bond (yes, Bond) says the mainstream investment fund was intended to catalyze the social bond market. “Our track record proves that you don’t need to sacrifice a financial return to achieve a social one,” he said.

The fund has supported Charities Aid Foundation, Cardiff University and Manchester University’s new cancer research center.

Since launch, the U.K. Social Bond Fund has committed more than £100 million ($122 million) across a portfolio of more than 80 bonds and generated annual returns of 6.6 percent.
