What if the next Google or Facebook was a social startup?

Niklas Zennström, a co-founder of Skype, has a $1 billion venture fund, Atomico, that already has invested in some sustainable startups.

Increasing pressure on the planet’s limited resources and lack of political leadership will motivate more “moonshot” sustainability innovation, he says. “The next $10 billion, $100 billion companies, are going to be, at their core, addressing sustainable issues.”

Atomico has invested in Lilium, a startup developing an electric flying car, and the Climate Corporation, a climate change insurance firm that was acquired by Monsanto for $1 billion in 2013.
