ImpactAlpha, December 7 — The Johannesburg-based impact investing firm made the first investments from its planned $30 million fund in green energy startup iG3N and Cultura Fresh, a hydroponic farm.
iG3N makes battery energy storage systems for residential, commercial and industrial and grid-scale projects in southern Africa. Cultura Fresh recycles water to produce iceberg lettuce year-round.
Secha operates as a holding company that takes equity stakes and active operating roles in its portfolio companies. Secha’s investments were led by Yusuf Shaikh, Seema Lalloo and Khule Mnisi (see, “Agents’ of Impact: Wukina’s Maureen Sibanda and Secha Capital’s Kuhle Mnisi”).
