Philly health fund backs VitalTrax to build software for clinical trials

A $6 million Philadelphia fund launched in December to back local health startups and position the city as a health tech hub has made its first investment.

VitalTrax has developed a mobile app, Wing, to help research teams more easily recruit and communicate with clinical trial patients.

The VitalTrax team is based out of the Drexel University and Science Center incubator, ic@3401.

Founder Zikria Syed, raised $26 million for a previous life sciences startup, NextDocs. The seed funding for VitalTrax: $150,000.

The fund is backed by Safeguard Scientifics, Ben Franklin Technology Partners and Independence Blue Cross.
