NearPod says its products are used by more than 3.5 million students and 100,000 teachers monthly, with one in five outside the U.S.

The five-year-old company, in San Francisco and Miami, has tools to help teachers create and share digital lessons, presentations and even virtual reality experiences with students.

The firm offers over 4,000 interactive lessons, built with publishers like ReadWorks and Common Sense Education.

In Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Nearpod built 500 lessons for non-native English speakers.

The $21 million raise brings total funding to $30.2 million. The Series B round was led by Insight Venture Partners and included existing investors Reach Capital, Krillion Ventures, the Knight Enterprise Fund and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff.
