Twenty just-announced “Solvers” in this year’s MIT Solve initiative will now develop corporate and other partnerships that will be announced in May.

This year’s Disease solutions included a chronic disease risk-screening that costs less than a dollar, and an open-source cancer literacy program for low-income communities.

Winning Carbon-emission solutions included a trading market for industrial waste heat, and an idle-stop feature to reduce emissions from old cars.

Refugee education innovations included “a “school-in-an-app” mobile game for teaching science and math, and a “talent-on-the-move” open-source program.

Three dozen finalists had presented their solutions at the U.N. earlier this month.
