The California Endowment is seeking an Impact Manager to join the Impact Investment team.  This is a hybrid role and candidates are expected to report to either the Oakland or Los Angeles office two days a week (or more as needed).

WHO WE ARE

The California Endowment (“The Endowment”) is a $4B+ private, statewide health foundation established in 1996 whose mission is to expand access to affordable, quality health care for underserved individuals and communities, and to promote fundamental improvements in the health status of all Californians. They are changing the narrative around health to ensure health and justice for all, and each day they, along with their community partners, seek ways to improve the state of health in California.

Headquartered in downtown Los Angeles, they have regional offices in Sacramento, Oakland, Fresno, and San Diego, with program staff working throughout the state. They challenge the conventional wisdom that medical settings and individual choices are solely responsible for people’s health. Instead, they believe that health happens in neighborhoods, schools, and with prevention.

OUR CORE VALUES

  • We believe every Californian deserves health, wellness, and justice.
  • We are committed to diversity, inclusion, mutual respect, and transparency.
  • We value youth leadership and champion marginalized voices.
  • We recognize the impact of trauma on both individual and community health outcomes.
  • We value learning through action.

And just as our values drive our work outside of the Foundation, our Code of Ethics drives how we conduct ourselves inside the Foundation, with the goal of creating a healthy, productive workplace.

Position Summary

In November 2023 The Endowment’s board voted to align all of its investment assets with its mission and values and is beginning the transitioning process. Read more about this decision here:  https://www.calendow.org/all-in-announcement/.

The Endowment will consider its mission and values alongside more traditional investment parameters in making all of its investment decisions. To guide this work, The Endowment is in the process of developing an Impact Investment Framework that will be utilized alongside its investment decision making process to evaluate investments and measure its progress over time.

The Impact Manager will play a leading role in helping The Endowment amplify its impact across its investment assets. Key responsibilities will include managing and operationalizing the implementation of the Impact Investment Framework across the entire organization’s investment activities (Impact Investing and the Investments Office) and ongoing field engagement and collaboration to both learn from and share with the field.
