Our Climate Finance team partners with communities, as well as public and private organizations from all sectors, to deliver clean water, climate mitigation, and community resilience solutions. The work of the Climate Finance team is centered around four solutions: Outdoor Recreation, Green Banks and Resilience, Natural Climate Solutions, and Community Finance. In all, we focus on solving systems-level problems and accelerating climate smart investments through partnership, innovative finance, and policy.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Vice President, Climate Finance to better align, integrate, and support our Climate Finance solution teams, oversee successful project delivery, and cultivate team development. This leadership role works closely with the Managing Director to provide strategic direction, pursue aligned growth opportunities, and ensure organizational effectiveness. Additionally, the Vice President will support decision-making, lead internal process improvements, and maintain organizational momentum. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and team-building skills, a commitment to QV’s mission, capacity to navigate ambiguity and complexity, and an ability to map and communicate detailed operations to big-picture aims.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership for all climate solutions, ensuring high performance, cross-team learning, and productive collaboration
- New Business Development and Pursuit: Drive and lead the identification and pursuit of new business development opportunities and strategic partnerships to expand the reach of the Climate Finance team.
- Integration and Planning: Coordinate projects and teams and align processes to more efficiently and effectively delivery impact and achieve organizational goals.
- Project Management: Oversee the delivery of projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Provide high-level oversight across solutions and projects to ensure quality, deepen partner and client relationships, and drive toward efficiency and other business objectives
- Staffing and Development: Cultivate and support management of high-performing teams, including oversight of staffing requirements, recruitment, training, professional development, and retention.
- Operational Support: Act as a key support to – and liaison between – the Managing Director and a growing Climate Finance team. Oversea daily operations serve as project and process resource to teams and ensure smooth project execution.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the organization’s strategic planning, ensuring alignment with growth areas and broader organizational goals.
- Performance Monitoring: Track project and team performance, address any issues, and implement improvements to increase impact and ensure client satisfaction.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive project success and organizational impact.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in conservation, water management, economic development, or resilience finance, with a track record of success in leading effective teams and achieving goals.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully overseeing project delivery and managing remote teams.
- Expertise in environmental issues, finance, and awareness of key market drivers, trends, and challenges.
- Proven ability to handle complex project management tasks, including budgeting, scheduling, and finite resource allocation.
- Experience in supporting senior leadership and contributing to strategic decision-making.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
Additional Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of climate finance mechanisms at the local, state, and federal levels and their application in addressing climate challenges.
- Experience in consulting (or consulting like) environments, with a capacity to effectively interpret and translate data and numbers (e.g., economic models)
- Proven ability to cultivate relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders at the local, state, and national levels.
- Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and empower team members to achieve their full potential.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with demonstrated experience in promoting and supporting a diverse workforce.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas to a diverse audience.
- Experience working with and facilitating collaborative outcomes with various stakeholder groups in design and project development.
- Willingness to both oversee and contribute to the development of work products, including financing of projects and subject matter expertise in the climate finance sector.

Position Location Requirements
This position is remote-first, with the expectation of meeting in person in the QV office in Montpelier, VT, or Washington, DC, at least once per week. Candidates should anticipate approximately 20% travel time throughout the year.
Salary + Benefits
The salary range for the Vice President, Climate Finance position is $155,000-$185,000 per year. Salary will be commensurate with experience, education, and applicability to the QV mission.
Benefits include health insurance (medical, dental, vision) and a 401k retirement plan with generous company matching contributions. QV provides full-time staff with 10 paid holidays, 2 paid personal choice holidays, and 18 days of paid time off annually.
