About this Role

We are looking for an experienced professional in Debt Capital Markets and Structured Finance to join the Debt Capital Markets and Structured Finance team within the Financial Products and Services Division as Principal/Lead Officer. The Investment Operations Department (INO) is responsible for generating a high-quality, creditworthy, and environmentally and socially sound project portfolio that results in significant developmental impact. The Financial Products and Services Division works closely with the Segment divisions to provide product-structuring expertise in a broad range of products and services, including blended finance, capital market solutions, equity, and mezzanine finance, among others. The selected candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Head of the Debt Capital Markets and Structured Finance (DCM&SF) team. The DCM&SF team plays a crucial role in originating and executing sustainable projects financed in the debt capital markets, with a focus on Green, Social, Sustainable, and Sustainability-Linked bonds. This role includes responsibilities such as origination, due diligence, structuring, and legal documentation, conducted in close collaboration with various divisions and teams within IDB Invest.
Responsibilities
- Support the origination of Structured Finance and Debt Capital Markets solutions and lead the execution of deals.
- Evaluate, structure, negotiate, and close new transactions.
- Apply strong negotiation and problem-solving skills to develop innovative financial engineering solutions.
- Draft term sheets, review key contracts, and collaborate with legal teams on securities and securitization documentation.
- Collaborate with various risk disciplines to develop a comprehensive view of structured finance and bond transactions.
- Provide guidance to internal teams to enhance the efficiency of the team’s execution capabilities.
- Focus on delivering value to IDB Invest’s clients by finding practical technical solutions to sector challenges.
- Collaborate within the team and across IDB Invest for developing regional capital markets and structured finance strategies.
- Lead project teams, mentor, develop junior staff, and build the talent and skills of the staff.
Requirements
- Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in structured finance, investment banking, or a related field.
- Proven track record of leading and executing sophisticated transactions.
- Strong knowledge of structured finance products, securitization markets, and related regulatory frameworks.
- Previous experience in developmental finance is preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written. Additional knowledge of Portuguese is preferable.
