Why this Role?
Next Street is hiring a high-performing Manager to help build our Capital Advisory services and execute on strategic planning and research and analysis projects in a manner that turns insights into transformative solutions for our clients. Next Street’s Capital Advisory services give community financial institutions, governments, investors, corporations, and foundations confidence that their capital is deployed to optimize impact, mission alignment, and desired returns. We help our clients understand the landscape they’re investing in, develop their investment goals, identify opportunities, and execute strategies. We are excited to expand our Capital Services offerings as we continue to explore and take advantage of market opportunities.
Your work will consist of…
Research, Data Analysis & Financial Modelling
- Perform qualitative and quantitative data analysis to understand a target market, industry, or geography
- Interview subject matter experts and conduct focus groups to deepen understanding of client challenges
- Analyze historical financial data (up to a three-statement analysis) to identify key challenges, opportunities, and tradeoffs for client
- Develop multi-year financial projections based on historical analysis
Strategy Development & Client Engagement
- Synthesize key takeaways to develop actionable recommendations and implementation plans to meet the client’s objectives
- Create client deliverables with research findings and recommendations in PowerPoint using visualization and charts
- Present findings to clients’ senior leadership and internal firm management
Project Support
- Develop and manage project plans to meet deadlines and effectively manage firm resources
- Support the administrative needs of projects, including email communication with internal and external stakeholders, scheduling meetings, focus groups, and surveys
- Conduct notetaking for internal and client meetings, knowledge management, and project administration
- Contribute to firm knowledge development, codification, and dissemination
Capital Advisory Services Support
- Collaborate on the strategic direction of the business line and on defining and standing up the solutions offered
- Support business development efforts and keep a pulse on the market for opportunities
- Execute on Capital Advisory projects
Internal Firm Efforts
- Mentor and coach junior team members
- Participate in recruiting efforts as needed
- Opportunities to participate in firmwide initiatives tied to our values
Why you?
- You have 4+ years of work experience with a professional services firm (investment banking, investment management, private credit/equity, management consulting – with financial services sector client experience, etc.) and/or a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or equivalent
- You have experience and understanding of capital markets and the role financial institutions play in them
- You have strong financial acumen and financial modeling skills, ideally with financial structuring experience
- You are familiar with the community development space (CDFIs, foundations, credit unions, impact investors, etc.) and government lending programs (SBA, SSBCI, etc.)
- You understand the impact small businesses have on their owners, employees, and communities and the role capital plays in their journey from start-up to fully scaled
- You have a desire to build a business line and take initiative
- You love client services and building long-term client relationships
- You can distill data and research for executive consumption by leveraging data visualization
- You have strong attention to detail
- You have strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
