ABOUT THE POSITION

Living Cities is seeking an Assistant Director of Strategic Partnerships to help identify, design, and manage strategic partnerships that will further the goals of Living Cities, a collaborative of financial, philanthropic, and other institutions who are working together to close the racial wealth gap in all U.S. cities.

The Assistant Director of Strategic Partnerships reports to the Chief Strategy Officer and sits on the Strategic Partnerships team, which maintains and expands strategic relationships and innovations to drive Living Cities’ impact, partnerships, and financial resources. The Assistant Director of Strategic Partnerships will help forge strategic partnerships with public and private institutions, public officials, academics, and others who are focused on building inclusive economies to build collaborative partnerships that will work together to close the racial wealth gap.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall support to the Chief Strategy Officer, coordinating strategic partnerships and innovations horizontally throughout the organization and achieving collective impact goals toward closing the racial wealth gap.
  • Design and manage key strategic partnerships, creating models, MOUs, and outcomes for partnerships.
  • Design and management of special projects that will further the strategic goals of the organization.
  • Identifying, cultivating, and soliciting partnerships through research, networking, special events and other strategies.
  • Create, maintain, and update organizational profiles and other information in Salesforce, keeping the broader staff team informed and updated about partnerships.
  • Identify stories, images, and other collateral from partnerships, including convenings, site visits, and other events that are suitable for Member updates, strategic fundraising, and stewardship.
  • Effective coordination with Strategy Team and Office of the President to align cultivation, prospecting, and engagement opportunities for current and prospective members.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Policies, Organizational Development, or related field
  • Five years’ experience in a related role or field or 10 or more years’ experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience in City Hall or other relevant experience or familiarity with local government, especially with the mayor’s offices, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with private and corporate philanthropy and inclusive economic development. Understanding of philanthropy/financial institutions broadly; direct experience in /both sectors preferred.
  • Familiarity with our Board members’ focus areas, and other philanthropic collaboratives relevant to our goals.
  • Experience managing people and projects and demonstrated comfort working across teams.
  • A history of building strong relationships and partnerships; experience facilitating collective action a plus.
    Commitment to addressing economic inequality and racial disparities; experience in the urban, social change field is a significant asset.

 

SALARY
Salary is commensurate with experience and background and follows our internal compensation strategy.
DC: $102,850 – 108,900
NY: $113,135 – $119,700

As much of our work is performed on a computer, the employee must be able to remain in a position that allows them to do so effectively. Additionally, they may require some movement around the office to access files or other equipment or technology. As collaboration and communication are a large part of our work, the employee must also be able to accurately exchange information in these situations, whether verbally or written.

 

POSITION TYPE

This is a full-time position.

 

TRAVEL

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
