About this Role
As a Grant Finance Officer at World Vision International’s Sierra Leone office, you will play a crucial role in assisting the Grants Finance Coordinator and the WASH Program Manager. Your primary duties will revolve around ensuring efficient and effective financial management of the WASH program to enhance the quality of grant financial reporting and management in full compliance with donor regulations and WVISL’s policies. You will drive accountability by ensuring all supporting documents for cash disbursement, approvals, and journal vouchers are complete, accurate, and compliant with organizational and donor requirements. Monthly project finance reports and finance record maintenance will be an integral part of your responsibilities. You’ll also ensure proper receipt, safekeeping, and lodgment of funds. Moreover, assisting in financial audits, field/community visits, budgeting coordination, and preparing essential reconciliations are key aspects of the role. You’ll also enhance customer service through effective engagement with the program and other project staff.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all supporting documents for cash disbursement, approvals, and journal vouchers are complete, accurate, and comply with WVI and WVSL finance policies and donor requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly project finance reports and maintain finance records and filing systems on a monthly basis.
- Ensure proper receipt, safekeeping, and lodgment of all funds received according to WVSL policies and donor regulations.
- Assist internal and external audit staff to facilitate annual financial audits and ensure the minimum “Acceptable audit rating” according to World Vision Partnership requirements is reached.
- Conduct field/community visits to review accounting, internal control systems, and procedures, and train/recommend improvements if found inadequate.
- Assist the Finance Coordinator in coordinating the preparation of the WASH budget in accordance with WVISL’s policies.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations monthly and ensure that reconciling items are known and current.
- Ensure project advances are cleared timely and current and that all project-related balance sheet items are clean and accurate.
- Reconcile supplier accounts monthly and share payment advices and withholding tax certificates with vendors monthly.
- Enhance customer service by engaging effectively with programs and other project staff in accessing the finance function.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in grant financial management.
- Familiarity with donor regulations and financial compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
